Jim is a founding partner of Landman & Beatty. With more than 40 years experience, Jim practices primarily in the areas of Property Tax Appeals, Zoning, and Real Estate Development. Jim represents commercial property owners and managers in Property Tax Appeals around the State of Indiana, including hearings before township officials, county boards, the Indiana Board of Tax Review, and the Indiana Tax Court. He represents national, regional and local apartment owners, developers and management companies, as well as owners and managers of office buildings, shopping centers, professional buildings, industrial facilities, and other commercial property. He also handles related transactional work, as well as representing clients before local zoning agencies.
Born in Fort Wayne, Jim is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Law School, where he received the Order of the Coif, and served as an Assistant Editor of the Michigan Law Review. He served in the United States Army, Judge Advocate General Corps. He also served as Corporation Counsel for the City of Indianapolis (1964-1966).
In 1977, Jim and Bernard "Bernie" Landman formed the law firm of Landman & Beatty.
